Please be advised that we can only assist legal parents and guardians who have full parental responsibility. We cannot assist other third parties.

Upon receipt of this form, following verification, we grant you authorisation to proceed with your fundraising efforts. We will then establish a tailored JustGiving Campaign specifically designed to address your child’s unique medical requirements.

Donors can donate on JustGiving in five currencies: British pounds, US dollars, euros, Canadian dollars and Australian dollars

Kindly note that campaigns cannot be open-ended; they must be clear and specific in their appeal. They must clearly explain the medical need and the potential benefits. Robotics, bionics, wheelchairs*, WAV vehicles, home adaptations, sensory or accessible gardens, or well-being short breaks and holidays would all require a separate campaign. Any new therapy exceeding £5,000, such as stem cell therapy, not previously mentioned in your campaign, would necessitate a separate campaign. Any therapy visit exceeding £1,000 on a single occasion or a course of therapy exceeding £2,000 over time would require specific mention in a campaign. Additionally, any specialist equipment exceeding £1,000 would need to be explicitly mentioned in a campaign.

JustGiving also makes cryptocurrency donations safe, fast, and easy

*costing more than £2,000

Campaigns must also prioritise medical needs, particularly when there is a desire to provide both therapy and specialist equipment. Campaigns must have a minimum duration of three years and a fundraising target of at least £15,000 unless mitigating circumstances apply. Furthermore, campaigns will automatically close if no expenditure is incurred or donations are received for 12 months. A campaign must be closed and a new one may be created every five years, with funds from the initial campaign being transferred to the new one. Just4Children will edit all newly created campaigns.

We kindly request that you discontinue any additional fundraising pages, as this may create confusion among the general public. We also ask that you or any of your family or friends refrain from establishing any Crowdfunding pages, Facebook fundraisers, or PayPal fundraisers for the sake of transparency. All monies and donations raised, including those from raffles or from third parties, should be remitted to us. If any of the aforementioned conditions are met, we may decide to terminate the campaign. Initiating a second campaign outside our auspices will result in the closure of your Just4Children campaign.

Furthermore, we strongly advise you to ensure that the wording of your campaign page is precise and tailored to your specific cause, such as surgery, therapy, or specialist medical equipment. If you are seeking donations for multiple areas, it is essential to clearly mention the other areas as well.

Just4Children reserve the right to not release monies where an off shoot fundraising page does not align with a campaign.

Just4Children take no fees and promise:

  • All monies raised in your Campaign will be available

  • coordinate payments to correct UK and overseas organisations for treatment and associated costs like like flights and accommodation

Just4Children will retain any funds raised through JustGiving and other channels and will, upon receipt of invoices, remit the organisation or supplier directly. This funding is anticipated to cover initial (although not exhaustive) medical expenses, including surgery, therapy, treatment, long-term physiotherapy, and equipment. Subsequently, ancillary costs, such as economy travel, car hire, and standard 3-star (or maximum of £200 per night in the UK and abroad) accommodation for a family of four, will be covered. Additionally, a daily living allowance of £75 per family in the UK or Ireland or £125 per family abroad for each night away will be provided. It is crucial to note that ancillary costs cannot be released without prior payment of medical treatment.

Please be advised that accommodation, travel, and living expenses cannot be released for NHS or privately funded surgeries, therapies, and treatments unless specifically mentioned in the appeal. Furthermore, travel and living expenses must be claimed within one month of the commencement of medical treatment. Flights and accommodation for overseas therapies and surgeries must be booked at the time of the therapy or surgery invoice. Travel expenses must be incurred for journeys exceeding 10 miles in total.

Generally, travel and hotel costs are capped at twice the therapy costs, unless exceptional circumstances arise. The trustees retain the discretion to adjust this figure.

Funds for overseas medical therapies and treatments can only be disbursed where the same is not readily available within the UK.

It is imperative that funds are in place for each specific therapy, accommodation, and travel requirement before any invoices or deposits can be processed. For regular therapy sessions, funds must be available at least three months in advance.

*unless there are sound medical reasons for an upgrade

**a maximum of £250 inside London and inside capital or major cities. At discretion of Just4Children a higher amount may be permissible, eg at a time of high seasonal demand. Accommodation must be local to the medical centre. For a UK appointment monies can only be released for one night’s accommodation unless there are exceptional circumstances.

***the allowance can be claimed 3 days prior and 2 days post to some treatment when abroad, giving time to acclimatise

We ask you to deal directly with hotels and suppliers, Dial a Flight or a travel agency of your choice if air travel is involved, and physios or other therapists.

When overseas we check with Google to determine the average cost of daily car hire.

Please note that while we are fine with paying monies for overseas therapy we are unable to pay for full flights, hotel and an overseas living allowance for a family where a centre is clearly perceived as a holiday destination. We would be able to pay the child’s and carer’s share of the flights and standard 3 star hotel or accommodation and a living allowance of £75 per night away. We can not pay for any car hire, or airport or travel transfers, insurance or any other expenses.

We ask for an invoice to be emailed us from a travel agency or we will refund flights booked direct by the family.

We will only accept a maximum of two trips in any given year.

For a definition of specialist equipment we follow the guidelines of HMRC on vat exempt medical items:

  • wheelchairs
  • equipment to aid the hard of hearing, and low vision aids
  • specialist beds, chair and stair lifts
  • goods that have been designed solely for disabled people
  • specialist clothing including bibs*
  • specialist footwear**

*a maximum of 3 orders per year only in conjunction with main stream therapy

**specialist shoes, also known as orthopedic shoes, are shoes that are designed to support the feet and improve mobility They are often used to treat foot deformities, pain, and other conditions that make it difficult to walk. A maximum of 3 orders per year is allowed.

Sensory equipment for therapeutic use includes products for multi sensory therapy and play, sensory toys and integration.

Please note that Just4Children can release monies for medical devices and some therapeutic devices where they have an intended medical purpose. This includes vibration plates. Monies for hot tubs can be released up to a maximum of £5,000.

We may need to seek confirmation from a medical practitioner of the medical need and benefit of specialist equipment along with, for example, its age suitability.

Specialist equipment can only be for use in the UK and Ireland.

We can release monies for well-being short breaks and holidays to help with restorative mental health to relieve depression and stress where this is a clearly defined stand alone campaign.

A Service or assistance dog would need to be from a ADUK accredited charity where dogs are highly trained and their temperament tested.

Accredited assistance dogs:

  • have been trained to behave well in public
  • have safe and reliable temperaments
  • are healthy and do not constitute a hygiene risk observed over a considerable period of time
  • are fully toilet-trained
  • are regularly checked by experienced veterinarians
  • are accompanied by a disabled handler who has been trained how to work alongside their assistance dog
  • are recognisable by the harness, organisation specific coat, id tag on their collar or lead slip they wear

Monies for supplemental therapies can only be released in conjunction with main stream treatment like physiotherapy – and not on their own. Monies can not normally be released for general gym or spa membership. They need to be therapy specific.

We do not release monies for the following:

  • ECHP meetings and reports or any other reports for educational purposes*
  • any legal needs
  • family sessions, eg using a hydrotherapy pool
  • any food or vitamin supplements unless supported by a GP
  • driveways
  • insurance for any specialist equipment not originally purchased by the charity
  • e-scooters, e-bikes and e-trikes
  • red light therapy unless supported by a GP
  • childminding
  • maintenance items for hot tubs
  • to pay back a loan

*for an occupational or therapy report for parents alone there is a £200 maximum

Be aware that should the preferred parental solution be an invasive, untried or untested treatment outside a clinical trial Just4Children will not support the fundraising for this child.

We sometimes may request a medical practitioner including a consultant to confirm the medical need and benefit of a treatment, therapy or piece of equipment. Our medical advisor additionally advises us here too.

The parent/carer chooses the medical supplier or practitioner for their child and takes full responsibility for their choice. We expect a supplier to adhere to our Safeguarding Policy for Suppliers

To qualify for Gift Aid you need to be a UK taxpayer and have paid or expect to pay enough income or capital gains tax in the tax year your gift was received to cover all the Gift Aid donations you made to any charity that year.

A donor does not earn Gift Aid when donating for the benefit of a family member. The key principle is that you can’t claim Gift Aid on a donation if you’re getting something in return, and this includes donations made for the benefit of someone else, such as a family member.

A campaign may significantly change in its appeal if in the opinion of the trustees there are extenuating circumstances. Do note that campaign appeals can not simply be changed because there are available funds. We give the donors a period of one month to seek a refund if they wish. Monies after this period can then be released for the new medical areas of the appeal. Remaining monies can not be used for an adaption to a home.

Do be aware that we can not refund monies for items bought by parents, nor pay for repairs for items bought by parents, nor pay invoices older than 6 months or invoices added before a campaign began.

You may need to repay some of the monies if you sell or move from your property within 10 years of any adaptations being finished. We can not pay for planning applications nor release monies for an adaptation on a second home.

Finally, a reminder of our charity objects:

“To enable children in the UK and Ireland to obtain medical treatment, therapies and equipment which would not otherwise be available to them.”

Funds in a campaign are under our charity auspices and can not be transferred out to a family, or another charity or fundraising platform.

The charity must be run in a way that complies with our charity’s governing document and the law. We must deliver only our charity’s medical purposes and our charity’s funds can only be spent on supporting the delivery of these purposes.

Using charity funds or resources on other purposes is very serious. For example, as mentioned above we can not release monies for an EHC school plan or equipment needed for educational purposes.

It is not permissible for a charity to be established to support one child, as all charities are required to show public benefit, which you can read about here: Government Charitable Purposes and Public Benefit

However, Just4Children is the umbrella charity which has supported hundreds of individual children’s campaigns. We enable parents to fundraise under the banner of a registered charity, with their very own campaign established for the benefit of their child.

If a campaign raises insufficient funds or surplus funds, then the funds will be used if appropriate, to fund the child’s or children’s needs in accordance with Just4Children’s charitable objects. If in those circumstances Just4Children are unable to use all or part of the funds for the benefit of the child or children in accordance with Just4Children’s charitable objects, then any funds that cannot be used will be transferred to be used for the general charitable purposes of Just4Children.

The charity will close a campaign if the target figure is reached and no more fundraising is anticipated, or if no donations or expenditure occur over 12 months, or if the family do not abide by our terms and conditions nor abide by the spirit of them.

Once a campaign is closed any donations reaching us for this will be used for the general charitable purposes of Just4Children unless a second campaign is started.

Please read our Guide to Invoicing which must be adhered to and forms part of our terms and conditions.

This page acts as our terms and conditions. By completing our Application Form you are agreeing to these terms and conditions.

The trustees reserve the right to update the terms and conditions where there are changes to the law or other factors the trustees believe impact the charity.
