Summary of Terms and Conditions

  1. Eligibility

We can only assist legal parents or guardians who hold full parental responsibility. We are unable to support third parties.

Upon receipt and verification of your application, we will authorise your fundraising and create a tailored JustGiving campaign based on your child’s medical needs.

  1. Fundraising Platform

Donations can be made via JustGiving in the following currencies:

  • GBP (£)
  • USD ($)
  • EUR (€)
  • CAD ($)
  • AUD ($)

Cryptocurrency donations may also be accepted.

To ensure transparency and avoid confusion:

  • No additional fundraising platforms (e.g. GoFundMe, PayPal, Facebook Fundraisers) may be used
  • All funds raised (including raffles or third-party fundraising) must be paid directly to Just4Children

Failure to comply may result in campaign closure.

  1. Campaign Requirements

All campaigns must:

  • Be clear, specific, and transparent
  • Clearly explain the medical need and expected benefit
  • Have a minimum duration of 3 years
  • Have a minimum target of £15,000 (unless exceptional circumstances apply)

Campaigns cannot be open-ended.

Separate campaigns are required for:

  • Different treatment categories (e.g. therapy, equipment, adaptations)
  • New therapies over £5,000 not previously stated
  • Therapy costs exceeding:
    • £1,000 (single visit)
    • £2,000 (course of treatment)
  • Specialist equipment over £2,000

Campaigns will automatically close if inactive (no donations or expenditure) for 12 months.

A new campaign may be created every 5 years.

  1. Transparency and Compliance

All campaign messaging must be accurate and specific.

Lack of clarity may:

  • Reduce donor trust
  • Damage credibility
  • Breach regulatory expectations

Just4Children reserves the right to edit campaign content.

  1. Use of Funds

Funds are held and managed by Just4Children and will be paid directly to suppliers upon receipt of invoices.

Funds may cover:

  • Medical treatment, therapy, and equipment
  • Travel and accommodation (subject to conditions)
  • Associated costs such as flights and car hire

Key Conditions:

  • Medical costs must be paid before ancillary costs are released
  • Travel must exceed 10 miles
  • Accommodation:
    • Only for multi-day treatment or journeys over 100 miles
    • Typically limited to 1 night for UK treatment
  • Hotel cap:
    • £200 per night (UK & overseas)
    • £250 in London/major cities (at discretion)

Daily allowances:

  • £75 per night (UK/Ireland)
  • £125 per night (overseas)

Claims must be made within 1 month of treatment.

  1. Travel & Overseas Treatment
  • Overseas treatment must not be readily available in the UK
  • Maximum overseas stay: 6 months
  • Maximum trips: 2 per year
  • Travel costs are generally capped at 2× therapy costs

Extended stays, holidays, or non-essential travel will not be funded.

  1. Specialist Equipment

Equipment must:

  • Be medically necessary
  • Align with HMRC VAT-exempt definitions
  • Be used in the UK or Ireland

Examples include:

  • Wheelchairs
  • Specialist beds and lifts
  • Sensory equipment
  • Orthopaedic footwear (max 3 pairs/year)

Medical evidence may be required.

  1. Therapies
  • Must be medically supported
  • Must accompany mainstream treatment (e.g. physiotherapy)
  • Standalone alternative therapies are not usually funded

Unproven or non-approved treatments (e.g. non-FDA approved outside trials) will not be supported.

  1. What We Do Not Fund

We do not fund:

  • Legal or educational costs (e.g. EHCP reports)
  • General wellness therapies (e.g. NLP)
  • Gym memberships
  • Home schooling or entertainment items
  • Cars, e-bikes, or scooters
  • Insurance or maintenance for equipment
  • Loans or retrospective costs
  • Items purchased before campaign start
  • Individuals over age 25
  1. Campaign Conduct

Families must:

  • Follow both the letter and spirit of these terms
  • Avoid external fundraising activities
  • Ensure all messaging aligns with the approved campaign

Breaches may result in:

  • Campaign closure
  • Withdrawal of support
  1. Gift Aid

Gift Aid can be claimed where:

  • The donor is a UK taxpayer
  • The donation is not for the benefit of a specific family member
  1. Changes & Trustee Discretion

Trustees may:

  • Amend campaign details where necessary
  • Request medical evidence
  • Refuse or limit funding where costs are disproportionate

All decisions are at trustee discretion.

  1. Charity Purpose

All funds must align with our charitable objective:

“To enable children in the UK and Ireland to access medical treatment, therapies and equipment not otherwise available.”

Funds:

  • Cannot be transferred to individuals or other organisations
  • Must be used in line with charity law
  1. Closure & Remaining Funds
  • Campaigns close after 12 months of inactivity
  • Funds may still be used at trustee discretion
  • After 6 years, unused funds may be redirected to general charitable purposes

By completing the application form, you agree to these current Terms & Conditions.
