Just4Children are fundraising to provide Zena with therapy and specialist equipment to help her have the chance to learn, grow and explore as normally as possible.
To everyone reading this, thank you for taking a moment to meet our incredible girl, Zena Rose.
Zena is aged one from Brighton. She entered the world seven weeks early after a traumatic emergency birth in London in Sept 2025. Within minutes of being born she needed CPR, 2x blood transfusions, breathing support and intensive care. At just two days old she suffered from life threatening seizures… we were told she might not survive.
But Zena surprised everyone – including the doctors! She is a fighter – our very own warrior princess!
After seven weeks in neonatal intensive care and four different hospitals, she came home to us and her big brother. It’s been a rough ride but every small achievement reminds us just how strong she is.
Zena, now at nine months old, has been diagnosed with Hypoxic Ischaemic Encephalopathy (HIE), Cerebral Palsy, Cerebral Visual Impairment, moderate hearing loss and Infantile Spasms.
In everyday terms, this means the brain injury Zena suffered around birth affects how she moves and controls her muscles in all four limbs, how her brain makes sense of what she sees, and how she hears. She also experiences a rare form of epilepsy that affects babies. However, inspite of all these challenges, we have hope for her and she’s showing us her desire to fight.
Our dream is simple: to give Zena every possible opportunity to learn, grow, play, communicate and, one day, crawl, walk and explore the world around her and find happiness in her life journey by providing her with therapies, treatment and specialist equipment.
