Just4Children are fundraising for vital multi therapy sessions and specialist treatments for Teddy aged 1, to enable him to reach his full potential and give him the best quality of life.

Teddy was born on 17th July 2020, in a poor condition and had to be resuscitated He was taken to the Neonatal Ward in Northampton General Hospital. At 5 hours old Teddy had his first seizure. At 10 hours old he was transferred to Leicester Royal Infirmary Hospital in a critical condition. When Teddy arrived at LRI he was placed in a cooling jacket to prevent any further damage to his brain.

Teddy spent 6 weeks in LRI NICU. During this time we faced many uncertain moments. After many tests and numerous MRI’s Teddy was diagnosed with mild (HIE). Thankfully after being transferred back to NGH Teddy was finally able to go home at 7 weeks old.

We later received the news that Teddy had been diagnosed with EIEE (early infantile epileptic encephalopathy). Teddy is entirely Ng Tube fed, GORD and has an unsafe swallow.

Due to Teddy’s condition he has severe developmental delay and suffers from multiple seizures a day. Teddy has been known to have over 200 seizures in a 24 hour period. He requires monitoring 24 hours a day. Due to Teddy’s developmental delay, he isn’t at the level of a typical baby of his age, so requires daily physio to stretch and work his muscles so they don’t become tight and to work on his tone and head control.

Teddy is very much reliant on therapy and will further benefit from the following in particular: Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Therapy and Hydrotherapy. Both have been proven to help children with similar medical conditions to Teddy.

Currently Teddy has 1 physiotherapy session a month provided by the NHS. We have started private sessions but they are very costly. 1 session a week adds up to over £‪5000 a year.

Due to the 24 hour care required, Teddy’s mum has had to put her career on hold, so funding these sessions is very difficult.

Teddy is the strongest bravest little boy we know. He fights every single day to be with us and gives us the most beautiful smiles and little conversations, which we treasure and are so thankful for. He is our hero.
