Just4Children are hoping to raise funds for Finn to access medical therapies and treatments to maximise his potential.
Finn, our rainbow baby, arrived healthy and completed our family. When he was just 16 weeks old, our lives took an unexpected turn, leading us into a world we never imagined. Six years on, family life is challenging. Finn requires intense support with everyday activities, and to provide this, we have had to make significant sacrifices, including putting careers on hold. Fundraising is now vital to help us access the medical care and support he needs.
Despite exhibiting symptoms common to known syndromes, Finn’s severe disabilities remain undiagnosed after six years. He has been put forward for medical research, and we are hopeful that one day we will find answers, not just for Finn, but potentially for other children like him.
Finn’s disabilities include: severe microcephaly, severe global developmental delay, visual and hearing impairment, non-verbal communication, underdeveloped eating and chewing skills, lack of mobility, incontinence, and general learning disabilities.
At 6 years old, Finn’s developmental age is closer to that of a baby. He still wears nappies, cannot walk independently, doesn’t understand play, cannot talk, and needs support with feeding. He requires 24/7 care.
Finn receives invaluable support from NHS physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and vision specialists, for which we are incredibly grateful. However, we know we can do more. The therapy centre, Blue Skies Ahead, has been a lifeline, providing Finn with regular weekly therapy. This crucial support comes at a cost, and additional funds will help us continue these sessions, maximising Finn’s potential.
Living with a child with complex needs and no diagnosis is devastating, but Finn makes us proud every single day. The love he brings to our family is overwhelming.
We are grateful for any help and support.
Thank you
