Please help Just4Children raise £90,000 to change Kyra’s life so her dream of walking with both feet on the ground can become a reality #StepWithKyra
Kyra is a fun, creative, and determined 15-year-old girl from Brighton who loves dancing, history, cooking and looking after animals. She was born with Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency (PFFD); a very rare condition that meant she was born with one leg a lot shorter than the other.
The NHS suggested amputation above the knee when she was a toddler.
However, her family discovered Dr. Paley in America, a world-renowned expert in PFFD, who invented an alternative solution. A metal rod is placed inside the bone and a computerised magnet is held on the leg, which causes the rod to lengthen painlessly by a minuscule amount. When used daily, alongside specialist physiotherapy at his dedicated centre in Florida, bones can be lengthened by several centimetres over a few months.
Dr. Paley assured Kyra that she would be able to walk, run, and dance without pain and prosthetics. Unfortunately, the NHS would not fund her treatment.
Thanks to years of fundraising, Kyra has had three surgeries with Dr Paley and his team to correct her hip and ankle, and lengthen her leg by 10cm. This has transformed her life! She now actively plays sports and even helped her cheerleading team become Champions in 2025!
Unfortunately, until her legs are of equal length, Kyra will always have hip and leg pain. Her journey with the Paley team started when she was seven in and she has only one more lengthening until the end of her treatment. Timing is critical so she can focus on GCSE’s. We need £90,000 for her to help her walk pain free. Can you help make her dream a reality?
Please support Kyra in completing her journey.
Thank you, Rima & Neil
