Steps for Jessica

Just4Children are fundraising to help Jess travel to the Adeli Medical Center, and to receive CME therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and specialised equipment to help her reach her full potential.

This is Jessica. She is 10 years old and lives in Penkridge, Staffordshire. She is the happiest girl, who is full of character she is funny and always smiling.

Jess was born in May 2014 but at 6 months old we noticed that she was a little bit different and not reaching her milestones. After numerous tests, it became apparent that Jess had severe learning difficulties and muscle hypotonia a condition that affects her speech and her movement.

At 3 years we learned that Jess had epilepsy at first the seizures were small but over time got worse and more frequent. This, in turn, set Jessica’s physio back and she lost about a year’s progress. With no quick fix, we set about finding different therapies to help build her muscle strength to help her take her first steps. Through research and advice, we found the Adeli Medical Centre which has helped Jess to achieve so much. After adjusting to her medication finally, Jess is on the right track and is taking to her physio sessions well.

In a bid to catch up, we went to Adeli Medical Center in Slovakia where they offer a highly intensive rehabilitation programme we went for two weeks and after a huge effort from Jess, she came home so much stronger. After a few months of being back home and following advice given to us by professionals we met in the centre, we are pleased to say that Jess took her first steps with the aid of a walking frame.

We were so pleased with her progress that we returned to the Aldeli Center a further 3 times. Each time she has continued to progress and now she is very confident when using her walker and with help is walking around at home without it.

Jess has worked so hard and come such a long way we are so proud of her. It is through the kindness of others donating and organizing events to raise funds for Jess that this has become possible we as a family are forever grateful. Just4children are helping so that these life changing therapies can continue until Jessica had reached her full potential.
