Just4Children needs to raise monies to provide Rosie with the therapy she so desperately needs.
Rosie-May is 10 years old from Weston-Super-Mare. She needs therapy and treatment to make it easier for her to walk and move around. This would allow Rosie to feel even more freedom in her own body.
Rosie was born 3 month’s premature weighing 2lb causing brain damage. She was diagnosed at only a few months old with diplegic cerebral palsy.
Monies were raised 2 years ago and we flew to America where Rosie had SDR surgery with Dr Park. This was life changing for Rosie as it released the spasticity in her legs. Unfortunately, her legs are still crossing over due to Rosie still having tight abductors. This is making Rosie’s progress harder and slowing her down. This surgery was needed when she underwent SDR surgery but we didn’t have the funds at the time and was hoping to have this done in England at a later date.
We recently went to Bristol Children’s Hospital where they suggested to have Botox treatment for the same effect as the surgery. Rosie would need to have Botox injections every 6 months and would need to be put to sleep each time. It also weakens muscles over time.
As Rosie’s mum I want what is best for Rosie and the most beneficial option. I have decided to try and raise the £15,000 for Just4Children to get her the therapy she so desperately needs.
Since SDR surgery Rosie has been able to use her walker a lot more and get stronger and improve her posture massively.
This is the only thing making her walking harder. The crossing of her legs have always been an issue and it would be incredible if anyone can help us get there.
Rosie’s always been very determined and always enjoys putting the work in when it comes to learning to walk. She just wants to be more like other children her age. I know she will make the most of the recovery and come out even stronger!
