Just4Children are raising money to help Margot access life-changing therapies that will support her development and help her take her first steps.
Our beautiful daughter Margot living in Daventry recently turned three. She has had a difficult life since before she was even born. During a routine pregnancy scan, doctors discovered that there is extra fluid in her brain. We were referred to a specialist hospital for extra scans and tests. The scans showed that the fluid was there because her brain had not formed properly. Parts were missing and other parts were smaller than they should be. The doctors warned us that Margot would, most likely, be severely disabled.
After a scary pregnancy filled with anxiety and hours of researching medical terms we didn’t understand, Margot finally arrived on 20th July 2022. From the moment she was born, we knew that we would be okay. She was perfect, but that didn’t mean that things were going to be easy.
Since then, Margot’s life has been a whirlwind of appointments, MRI scans, genetic tests, physio and speech and language therapy.
The abnormalities in Margot’s brain affect her development in many ways, including her communication, learning, and physical abilities. Despite the daily challenges she faces, Margot is a happy, loving, determined little girl who loves being around other people and listening to songs and stories. At home, we try to incorporate learning into everything we do and every little victory is HUGE to us.
Early intervention is so important for brain development and forming neural pathways, and this campaign will help Margot access therapies that will make a real difference to her life. If we can make them a reality while she is still young, intensive physiotherapy courses will help make her stronger, more independent, and hopefully even help her take her very first steps! But these therapy courses are very expensive, which is why we need some help!
