Lewis Little Legs

Lewis is bright and bubbly eight year old from Essex who needs access to physio to help him achieve his dream of walking independently.

Lewis had a difficult start in life. Born 10 weeks prematurely and, having an operation for a twisted bowel a week later, we thought that he had managed to jump the hurdles that life had already thrown at him. However, at around five months, we were told he had Cerebral Palsy. Shortly afterwards, we started our journey with Just4Children to fundraise for vital therapy and equipment.

During 2019, Lewis had a life changing operation, Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, at Great Ormond Street Hospital, followed by two years of intensive physiotherapy.

Lewis is now a bright and bubbly eight year who gets around with walking sticks. We have seen him go from taking a few steps unaided to walking short distances independently and has even selflessly raised funds for GOSH to say thank you for all they have done for him. There is still more that our determined and motivated little boy can achieve.

We are fundraising for Just4Children to continue Lewis on his journey of independent walking. We hope to do this with vital physiotherapy sessions throughout his childhood and by giving him access to tailor-made orthotics. He may also need further operations and therapies as he grows.

In addition, we would like to modify our garden to create an environment for Lewis to participate in daily physiotherapy after school. The messages from the brain are wired differently with children that have CP. Experts have told us that the more repetition of exercise he does the stronger and more co-ordinated he will become.

Thank you for helping our superhero with his dream of walking to become a reality.
