Just4Children are fundraising to replace Eve’s powerchair to give her Independence, Joy, and Freedom.
This powerchair is the only way Eve can move independently, sing, dance, and feel in control of her world. Her current chair is 8 years old and breaking down constantly, and without a replacement she will lose the only independence she has. Any donation or share would mean so much to our family and help Eve keep her confidence and joy.
Eve is aged 22 from Bolton. She was kindly funded a powered wheelchair around eight years ago by a children’s charity. Since then, that chair has become far more than equipment it is her lifeline to confidence, joy, and independence.
Before this, Eve used a manual wheelchair funded by wheelchair services. Unfortunately, they will not fund a powered chair for her. As Eve grew older and became more aware of her disability, she also became aware of how much the manual chair restricted her life. Her world became smaller, her mood dropped, and she withdrew from social activities. Her head was always lowered.
Everything changed the moment Eve was given control of her powerchair.
Her head lifted instantly. The smile we had missed for so long returned. Eve could finally move independently, singing and dancing (her absolute favourite things) wherever she went. Seeing her happiness come back lifted our whole family.
Aside from being able to control her powerchair, Eve is completely dependent on others for all aspects of her care and requires two-to-one support. This chair is the only part of her life that she can control herself.
Sadly, Eve’s current chair is now eight years old. It has had numerous breakdowns and repairs and has reached the end of its lifespan. It is no longer reliable or fit for purpose, and the fear of it failing completely is constant.
The thought of not being able to provide Eve with another powerchair is heart breaking. Asking her to return to complete dependence on others, losing the one source of independence and joy she has would be devastating.
