Just4Children are fundraising for Idris who would benefit from extra therapy and specialised equipment to aid his treatments.

Idris is 2 and a half and lives in Axminster, Devon. He was born at 30 weeks and due to the trauma of the emergency c section, Idris suffered damage to his brain which was diagnosed as cerebral palsy with spastic diplegia.

Idris is unable to stand unaided, walk or transition from different levels on his own. Since starting physiotherapy he has made huge improvements with his mobility. He is now able to crawl on all 4s meaning he has more freedom and choice of where he’d like to go. Our aim is to work on building his leg strength so that he gains the skills to eventually be able to use a walking aid.

Idris watches other children running around and wonder what goes through his head. It makes our hearts ache and would love for him to join in with other children with independence. We can’t always put him on the floor to crawl around if we are out which makes days out hard.

We have secured Idris a place at Swimlab in 2024 which is a week of intense physio and hydrotherapy. Idris has always loved being in the water and feeling almost feel weight free. Hydrotherapy has so many benefits for Idris and the stiffness in his legs, which is spasticity.

Idris would also benefit from physio equipment to help with home exercises such as a vibration therapy plate which can help with the spasticity in his legs. Vibration therapy helps children with cerebral palsy attain balance, core stability and improve muscle spasticity. This machine helps relax their muscles by stimulating natural reflexes, increasing muscle activation.

In the future, we are hopeful that Idris will be accepted for a life changing major operation called Selective Dorsal Rhitzotomy. This may be funded by the NHS but the recovery and aftercare required is extensive.

Thank you so much for your support and helping our amazing son Idris.
