Just4Children are fundraising to provide Emilia with regular rehabilitation – physiotherapy, vision therapy, hand therapy and sensory integration – to help Emilia gain more independence, learn to move, communicate and enjoy a better quality of life.
Emilia is a brave little girl with multiple diagnoses. Her brain was severely damaged at birth, and she was born with a serious heart defect.
Emilia was born after a very difficult labour with asphyxia, hypoxia and brain swelling, which caused serious damage to her nervous system. She has microcephaly, sensory and motor impairments, partial blindness and hearing loss. Emilia also had a heart defect which was repaired in early infancy.
Due to her neurological condition, she is developmentally delayed and needs help with all daily activities. She cannot eat or drink by mouth and is fed through a gastrostomy tube. Emilia requires 24/7 care.
Despite all these challenges, she is a bright, loving and determined little girl. Just4Children are fundraising for regular rehabilitation including physiotherapy, occupational, visual and hand therapy. These will help Emilia to improve muscle tone, posture and coordination, and support her ability to walk and use her hands more effectively. Specialized orthotics and rehabilitation equipment would help her maintain correct leg position and balance, as well as allow safer daily care (for example, bathing). Continuous treatment and support are essential to give her more independence and improve her quality of life.
Thank you for your support.
