Just4Children are raising funds t0 provide Eliza much needed mobility aids to improve her independence and help her to achieve a much brighter future.
I am Eliza and I am 17 years old from Devizes. I am an outgoing, resilient, and a caring individual. I am currently studying for my A levels. I have complex medical needs but I love doing creative things. I am adventurous and willing to engage in activities despite any challenges.
In my early years I was diagnosed with Browns syndrome, ADHD and ASD. Later in life, I suffered school trauma which led to Tourette’s syndrome, OCD and general anxiety disorder. Around this time, I also became hearing impaired.
I have had many operations to correct Browns syndrome but the last one caused my diagnosis of cerebral visual impairment. Mentally this was very challenging for me to accept the visual impairment, and I am still navigating my sight loss.
Due to injury I developed small fibre neuropathy at 13 which resulted in me having limited mobility. When I was 14, I developed long covid which caused me to have chronic fatigue syndrome and a weakened immune system. I have extreme and unknown allergies. I have now been diagnosed with Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) affecting my heart. In 2023 I had glandular fever which has caused long lasting effects.
This is where I need your help. We have received minimal equipment support. I need a custom hybrid electric wheelchair that can support my active lifestyle. My current wheelchair is old, not fit for me and isn’t electric. Because of my chronic fatigue I can’t manually propel myself for too long. Currently, I am unable to go out without support as navigating the world is too exhausting for me. Being visually impaired means i need to use a long cane but when I am in my wheelchair that is impossible without an electric attachment.
Becoming chronically ill is a big challenge but with your kind donations it will help me lead a better life and fuel my further adventures.
