Harry’s CP Journey

Hi, my name is Harry and I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy when I was two years old. I need your help to fund continued vital physiotherapy and specialist equipment to help me improve my ability to walk.

In 2019, Harry began his journey to having a life changing surgery following his diagnosis of Spastic Diplegia, Cerebral Palsy at 2 years old. The Covid-19 pandemic halted Harry having any treatment. Harry was assessed a year later and it was decided the initial surgery would no longer be best for Harry.

In the following years, we visited Alder Hey children’s hospital in Liverpool every 6 – 12 months for repeated assessments. We met with neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons and consultants. In the meantime, Harry continued grow and his walking pattern worsened. Despite being independent and joining every sport he could at school, Harry fell multiple times a day due to his left leg and foot turning in at a 90 degree angle.

In January 2024, after an in-depth gait analysis, Harry was put on the waiting list for 2 major leg surgeries which would re position Harry’s legs and feet in a more natural position. This meant cutting both of Harry’s thigh bones and re positioning them with metal bolts and lengthening his left calf muscle.

In June 2024, Harry successfully underwent surgery under the fantastic care of Alder Hey. His recovery has been extremely hard physically and mentally and he faced learning to walk all over again. He uses a wheelchair, walker, leg splints and night braces. Harry now requires as much physiotherapy as possible in order to re build his ability to walk better than ever.

Harry’s disability is life long and he will always need this treatment. NHS physio is limited. One session of private physiotherapy costs on average £140 an hour. Harry needs a minimal of one session a week.

We are fundraising for Just4Children to be able to give him the regular physio, hydrotherapy, footwear or adapted equipment he needs to live life to the full.

Harry has had the most incredible support already which is greatly welcomed and appreciated.
