Evie’s Adventure

Just4Children are fundraising to provide therapies, orthotics aids and other therapy equipment to help improve Evie’s quality of life and fulfil her potential.

This is Evie, a 10 year old little girl who just loves life and never gives up!

Evie had a very dramatic start to her life. She was born 10 weeks premature and spent the first 6 weeks of her life in neonatal intensive care in Brighton being treated for respiratory distress, sepsis and necrotising enterocolitis (NEC).

Evie is our little miracle. She is a fighter and pulled through… although we did have our concerns, as she grew she didn’t hit her milestones and we could see she was struggling with her movement, balance, co-ordination and speech. At age 3 we finally received Evie’s diagnosis of periventricular leukomalacia (PVL) and cerebral palsy. Although her right side is weaker, it is her legs that are most affected.

In June 2022, Evie had life changing SDR surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Since then, and with so much support from friends, family, and even strangers, Just4Children raised enough funds to support Evie through those first few years of intensive therapy. She is now stronger than ever! But it doesn’t just stop there. Evie still needs regular physiotherapy but she also needs additional therapy to help with her communication, cognitive and mental health needs. She has been through a lot in her short 10 years of life and as she has gotten older, she has struggled with understanding and accepting her disabilities.

Just4Children are continuing to raise funds to support Evie physically as well as emotionally and cognitively. She loves animals and we try and encourage this by including animal based therapy into her routine. Such as Equine Therapy/Horse Riding and animal assisted counselling therapy as well.

All of this will enable Evie to live a happy fulfilled life.
