Ella-Maria is a radiant and joyful 7-year-old girl from Southampton, whose courage has inspired all who know her. In her short life, she has faced more challenges than many endure in a lifetime.
At just 8 months old, Ella experienced her first seizure, marking the beginning of a long and arduous medical journey. The severity of her condition required her to be intubated and ventilated in intensive care, as her small body needed a break to recover from a relentless seizure. During her stay, extensive tests were conducted, and an MRI revealed brain abnormalities. The future was uncertain.
Ella was diagnosed with epilepsy, setting us on a tough two-year path filled with frequent seizures and multiple admissions to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). It soon became evident that her development was significantly delayed. However, Ella has always shown incredible strength and determination, proving herself to be a fighter in every sense of the word.
Now, Ella’s health is more stable, allowing us to focus on supporting her development. At present, she is unable to walk or talk, which is why additional therapies beyond what the NHS can provide have become essential. These therapies are not just treatment. They are her lifeline to achieving her full potential.
In April 2023, tragedy struck our family when a seizure claimed the life of Ella’s beautiful younger brother. It is a loss that words cannot capture, and our hearts will forever bear the weight of his absence. Throughout this darkness, Ella has been our guiding light, reminding us of the power of hope and love.
We are determined to give Ella every opportunity to thrive, as she so deeply deserves. To do this, we need access to therapies and equipment that are often prohibitively expensive:

• Horse Riding Therapy
• Speech and Language Therapy
• Sensory Input Therapy
• Specialized Equipment
