Just4Children are wishing to raise money to take Charlie across to Canada for world famous Smile Therapy. This therapy provides intense physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy.
Charlie is 3 years old from Peebles and has a condition called Hypotonia (low muscle tone also known as floppy baby syndrome) and Dystonia (high muscle tone). The dystonia results in muscle spasms which can be painful for Charlie too. The fluctuating of his muscle tone makes learning to do some of the simplest of things to you and I extremely hard for him.
Charlie currently can’t sit or walk but we are determined that one day he will and we want to try everything we can to help him achieve the best he can. He is a very determined happy little boy who puts his mind to anything.
Due to Charlie’s low muscle tone he has problems swallowing his own saliva which results in him choking which is a very scary and serious occurrence. Both physiotherapy and speech and language therapy will help him build muscle tone to not only be able to sit, walk and talk but to hopefully be able to swallow normally too.
The NAPA centre in America provides an intensive therapy for 3 weeks which includes physio, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy. The recent increase in the fundraising target figure will allow Charlie to stay longer.
We have done research into it for a long time now and have decided we want to give it a go for Charlie. It is a costly therapy which is why we have decided to try and fundraise for Just4Children to help us towards the cost of it.
Thank you so much to everyone for taking the time to read this and if you can donate its greatly appreciated.
