Athion’s Adventure

Just4Children needs to raise funds for specialist, intensive therapies including physiotherapy, strength training, speech and communication, rhythmic movement therapy and more to give Athion a better quality of life.

Let me introduce my gorgeous, happy, cheeky boy Athion AKA Baby Sloth.

Athion is 6 years old now from Northampton and has Cerebral Palsy that affects his whole body and his ability to move, eat, speak and play. Without full support he is unable to do any of these things for himself.

We do not know why or what caused Athion’s brain damage. He was just made this way. His pregnancy and birth were no different to my other 2 children and we didn’t realise there was anything different until he was around 4 months old and he wasn’t hitting the usual milestones.

We nicknamed him Baby Sloth as he does everything in his own time…no rush.

Athion loves school and now has a power wheelchair we call Speedy that he uses to play with his friends and siblings.

With daily therapy and physio Athion is progressing slowly and works so hard – and always with a smile on his face. I want to be able to give him every opportunity to achieve his maximum potential, whatever that may be.

Just4Children are raising funds for specialist, intensive therapies including physiotherapy, strength training, speech and communication, hydro therapy and more at various centres across the UK and further afield. These therapies are not funded by the NHS and cost up to £10,000 per year. They are crucial to further Athion’s abilities and help him to have the childhood he deserves.

Just4Children are also raising funds for any specialist equipment that Athion needs to participate in the usual activities of a child, that are required for his therapy and aids to give him some independence such as specialist seating, adapted play equipment and more.

My Baby Sloth…Don’t hurry, be happy!
