An accessible bathroom is a bathroom that has been designed and equipped to meet the needs of children with disabilities. This includes children with mobility issues, sensory impairments and other physical disabilities that may make using a traditional bathroom difficult or impossible. An accessible bathroom is designed to provide maximum independence, comfort and safety for the child.

An accessible bathroom typically includes a number of key features to make it more functional and user-friendly for children with mobility issues or disabilities. Some of the most important features of an accessible bathroom include:

wide doorways and enough space for manoeuvring a wheelchair or walker;

a low-threshold shower or a roll-in shower with a shower seat;

grab bars and handrails for added stability and safety;

a height-adjustable or comfort height sink and toilet;

easy-to-reach and use controls for taps, showerheads and other fixtures;

non-slip flooring to prevent slips and falls.
