Please help Just4Children raise funds for Lamesha’s life changing SDR surgery to help her become more independent.

Lamesha is a lovely and beautiful 3 years old girl from Chigwell in Essex. She is our only child. She came into our life like a miracle after 3 years of appointments with various doctors. These doctors told us we would never have a baby. However, we didn’t give up and we travelled abroad for private IVF therapy, the result of which was our little angel.

Lamesha was born on 1st March 2018 and she really brings such joy to our family. She was born perfectly healthy and we were the happiest family but sadly our happiness didn’t last too long.

The months passed very quickly and I had to return to work when she was 7 months old. Like most other families we have to organise our lives so we sought a childminder to look after Lamesha for 8 hours a week. In fact, I arranged to work most of my shifts at weekends when my husband was off to take care of Lamesha.

Everything went well till 27th November 2018, the day that changed all our lives forever. That evening my husband picked up Lamesha from the childminder in a coma. After one hour in A&E we find out that Lamesha was suffering with a head trauma with severe hemorrhaging on the brain. Immediately Lamesha was intubated and rushed to Great Ormand Street Hospital for brain surgery. The surgeons put her survival changes at just 1%. But, miraculously after 3 hours surgery Lamesha was still alive.

Our next 2 months were spent in PICU. These were very long two months.

As a result of this Lamesha has severe brain damage with residual left hemiplagia cerebral palsy. She is getting better and better with 3 hours of daily therapy but SDR surgery will help her enormously.

We now desperately need help to get this surgery, a life changing operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, which will dramatically change Lamesha’s life. Having this operation would be followed by a minimum of 18 months intensive rehabilitation, physiotherapy and use of specialist equipment.

Sadly, we have been told we cannot receive this surgery and treatments on the NHS.

With this operation Lamesha’s quality of life will improve. She will be pain free, she will sleep through the night, and it will improve the ease of her care forever.

Thank you
