Steps for Jessica

Just4Children are fundraising to help Jess travel to the Adeli Medical Center, and to receive CME therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and specialised equipment to help her reach her full potential.

This is Jessica. She is 6 years old and lives in Penkridge, Staffordshire. She is the happiest little girl, who is very funny and is always smiling. Jess was born in May 2014 but at 6 months old we noticed something was not quite right, as she was not hitting her milestones. After numerous tests it was discovered that she has global development delay and muscle hypotonia a condition that affects her speech and movement which means at present she cannot walk or talk.

With no quick fix, we set about finding different therapies and treatments to help build her muscle strength so as to help her take her first steps. Through research and advice we found CME therapy and ‘spider suit’ physiotherapy with has helped her in leaps and bounds.

At 3 years old though, we learned Jess has epilepsy and at first the seizures were small but they have being getting worse and more frequent. This in turn set Jess’s physio back and she has lost about a year’s progress.

After adjusting to her medication, Jess is back on track and is really taking to her physio sessions well. In a bid to catch up, we took her to the Adeli Center in Slovakia last year, where they offer a highly intensive physio programme. This was only possible due to help and kindness of lots of amazing people. We went for 2 weeks and after a huge effort from Jess, she came back so much stronger.

The improvement was massive and she has continued this back home. She still isn’t talking but has taken her first steps in her walking frame. She still has a long way to go but Jess has determination to admire and is making us proud everyday. Just4Children are now helping us so that Jess can keep receiving these life changing therapies and treatments until the full potential of this awesome girl is reached.

We want Jess to reach her goals.
