Just4Children are fundraising to make Penny’s Disney Dreams come true.
Imagine you have a beautiful baby girl and she’s perfect in every way. Now imagine a time when she forgets how to say ‘mummy’ and doesn’t recognise who you are? 5 year old Penny Mills from Stafford has a rare genetic disease of ‘childhood dementia’, which sadly means she may not live beyond her teens. Sanfilippo Syndrome causes fatal brain damage and Penny will eventually forget how to speak, swallow and talk. Regrettably, the disease has already started to take its toll with Penny’s vocabulary seriously reduced from 150 to ten words, her motor skills seriously reduced and forgetting how to complete simple tasks like playing and putting on socks.
Penny is a happy little girl and lights up the room with laughter. Her family are determined to make as many memories with her as they can and where better to do so than the magical Disney World. This family holiday will provide Penny’s family with happy memories they can cherish forever whilst also providing a break from the routine of hospital appointments and everyday life.
