Inspirational child to have operation

The family of an eight-year-old girl from Cheltenham with cerebral palsy is “overwhelmed” after more than £30,000 was donated for an operation to help her walk.

Kitty Kerr, who attends St Gregory’s school, uses a walking aid and is unable to take more than a couple of wobbly steps without it.

Around Easter this year, her family started raising funds to pay for the £30,000 selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) surgery that stops spasms by cutting nerves in the spine.

Total donations have now passed that figure by several thousands of pounds, which has allowed Kitty’s family to book an operation for her at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children on November 17.
