Fundraising family gets £1,000 windfall after News article

A business has presented a family with a cheque for £1,000 – after reading about them.

The Thomas family are fundraising for physiotherapy for 6-year-old Aiden, who has cerebral palsy. He needs intensive sessions which will enable him to walk independently when he is older.

Funeral directors Peasgood and Skeates, who run a shop in Haverhill’s Queen Street, decided to donate £1,000 to the family after reading about them in the News’ sister paper, the Haverhill News.

Phil Warner, of Peasgood and Skeates, said the cash had come from a charity golf day.

He said: “When we saw the article, we thought: ‘Crikey, we’ve got some money to donate to the fund.”
