Father cycles 962 miles to help Izzy
East Devon father cycles 962 miles to help give Izzy, 6, a chance to walk
A father from East Devon has raised £9,000 by cycling over 900 miles to help a young relative have a life-changing operation.
Andy Bennett, 36, from Woodbury has cycled 962 miles in ten days from John O’Groats in Scotland to Land’s End in Cornwall to help his cousin’s daughter Izzy have an £80,000 spinal operation that could potentially change her life.
Six-year-old Izzy Pearce has Cerebral Palsy Spastic Diplegia, which limits her movements and makes her unable to walk. Her twin sister has the same condition, but has more movement. The family is hoping to fund an operation called SDR for Izzy, which should improve her chance of being able to walk.
