A devoted dad has walked almost 50 miles across London to raise funds towards helping send his daughter to America for a life-changing operation. Gereint Collier and a team of 12 close friends walked via every Premier League and Championship stadium in the centre of the city to raise vital funds for his daughter Ellie.
The three-year-old has Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy, caused by damage to the part of the brain that controls muscle movements. Ellie’s condition wasn’t diagnosed until she was 13-months-old – but it turns out her disability began before she was even born, having suffered a stroke in the womb.
The three-year-old from Brackla in Bridgend has paralysis on one vertical half of her body, making it difficult for her to run, jump and play like all her friends.
Her family, with the help of children’s charity Just4Children, are working towards raising £65,000 to send Ellie to St Louis Children Hospital in Missouri for a life-changing operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR).
