Kaiden’s CP Journey

Just4children are raising funds for Kaiden aged 7 from Norwich to have a life changing operation SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) and all the post op therapies and specialist equipment he will need.

Kaiden was born at 27 weeks. At 6 weeks he was diagnosed with Periventricular Leukomalacia then with cerebral palsy at 11 months.

Kaiden has come so far already at the age of 7 and has done so much more than anyone thought he would. Anyone that knows him personally will tell you how happy he is with his constant big smile.

Kaiden has spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy that affects mainly his legs. Unfortunately, this leaves Kaiden in a wheelchair full time. His driving skills are still a working process but with his continued hard work he’s now able to walk with a Kaye Walker for short distances and can sit for long periods of time unaided which is just amazing! most recently he’s been taking a few crawling movements.

He’s so proud of himself and so he should be. We all are!

We want Kaiden to be able to reach his full potential like any parent wants for their child and we have been advised that the only way to do this is by having surgery called SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy). This is a big operation and something we have thought about for a long time!

Our team of consultants and physiotherapists also agree he would be a good candidate so we have been referred to see a specialist team. If were given the go ahead then we will need to self fund for intensive aftercare including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, strengthening therapy and specialist equipment.

There is also a possibility the NHS will not fund the procedure and if this happens we will have this cost on top which could take the cost to £40,000 but we are determined that Kaiden reaches his full potential, so we believe it will be worth every penny.

So we’re asking for help however big or small to raise the funds Just4Children so desperately need.
Lots of love
