Jamie’s Chiari Story

Hello, my name is Belle from Birmingham. I am a young Cavachon dog, a Cavalier and Bichon Frise mix. My owner Jamie suffers from Arnold Chiari Malformation Type 1. This means part of her brain (the cerebellar tonsils) are too big for her skull so they drop through into the spinal canal. She has suffered symptoms from this condition since she was 10. She is now 19.

My owner is in constant pain suffering from debilitating headaches, nausea, sickness, dizziness, numbness, sharp pains in her legs, arms, spine and head. Her list of symptoms goes on. This means she can’t always take me for a walk and play all day!

I hate seeing Jamie miserable and stuck in bed all day. Here in the UK my owner has seen lots of different neurosurgeons who have been unable to help and have dismissed her. She finally found a neurosurgeon over in America who understands her condition very well and is willing to help. He says she will never feel better unless she has surgery. For Jamie to have this operation we need to raise £150,000!

Please help my owner get better so that we can have more walks and more play time!
