Bailey needs a new powerchair which would change his whole life and allow him to be a 6 year old boy just like he deserves to be.
Bailey is a 6 year old little boy from Taunton who was born with a condition called spina bifida and hydrocephalus. This has left him paralysed and unable to stand or walk at all.
Bailey is a fiercely independent little boy who loves to be out and about as much as possible. Bailey currently uses a manual wheelchair and was kindly loaned a Whizzy bug power chair for children aged 0-5 years. Bailey absolutely loves the whizzybug chair and it changed his little world but sadly he has now outgrown it.
Bailey desperately needs a new bigger powerchair that can meet all of his needs. After lots of research we have found the Karma Kameleon chair would be absolutely perfect for him. This amazing powerchair not only goes faster to help bailey keep up with all his friends and his big sister Millie but it can also lift up and lower down allowing Bailey to sit at any table height when in school or out and about. This means he can always sit around a table with all his friends and family with no issues. It also means bailey can reach things that have been out of reach currently especially when out shopping or at school.
The chair also has a basket that means something as simple as carrying his own school bag to and from school will be possible with this chair allowing his independence to grow and he can rely on adults around him a lot less. The chair also is much more child friendly. Bailey loves it as he absolutely loves diggers and he said the chair looks like his very own digger.
This power chair unfortunately is very expensive costing £7500 this is just something as family we cannot pay for by ourselves.
Bailey has had a hard few years health wise with lots of hospital stays appointments and operations. Bailey has many more battles to face in the near future so we really would love to make daily life just that little bit more easier for him and to keep encouraging all the things that he can do.
