Typical burial and cremation fees for children range from around £1,000 to as high as £1,500.
Support for child funeral costs
The Children’s Funeral Fund helps cover burial or cremation expenses for children under 18, or stillborn after 24 weeks of pregnancy. For children aged 0-17, the fund covers burial or cremation fees and a contribution towards the coffin. Additional costs like flowers, obituaries, or catering are not covered by the fund and may need to be paid for separately.
If the funeral is for a baby lost in pregnancy or a child below the age of 18 years old, Co Op funeral services are free.
In addition, the Trustees do allow monies to be released from a campaign for funerals in the sad event of a child’s passing.
The trustees will release up to a maximum of £1,500 for the funeral and an additional £1,000 for other costs. Also, up to £1,000 can be released for a memorial.
