Oscar’s Rehabilitation

Just4Children are wanting to support Oscar’s rehabilitation program. He needs specialist therapies to give him a better quality of life.

Oscar is aged 4 from Peterborough. He was born prematurely at 30 weeks and within the fourth week of his life, he underwent heart surgery and life-threatening sepsis. 3 months of intubation followed, with chronic lung disease, dysphagia, and decreased muscle tone. Oscar started to walk only at the age of 3. He still does not speak and has coordination and sensory processing difficulties.

Because Oscar suffers problems with eating and drinking he has to have blended meals. He is undergoing rehabilitation all the time, but this is absolutely crucial for Oscar to live a normal life.

We recently started a new therapy for Oscar, but it is very expensive and yet needed very much. Vojta Therapy is a dynamic neuromuscular treatment method based on the developmental kinesiology and principles of reflex locomotion. This method is treating Oscar with the disorders in his central nervous system.
