Just4Children are raising funds to help Katie-Louise obtain a therapy bike that will strengthen her muscles and give her much needed outdoor time easing some of the symptoms of her Cerebral Palsy and Dystonia.
Katie-Louise is a 5 year old girl from Belfast, who was diagnosed with Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy and Dystonia who requires 24/7 care from the age of six months old. She is a wheelchair user, non verbal (though is learning to use a communication device). For 4 years she was NG/PEG fed but in late May her Feeding tube was removed and is eating a minced and moist diet.
Katie-Louise struggles with emotional regulation throughout the day in many different ways, she has found it very difficult coping with the forced changes in her routine and life due to COVID-19 with shielding, school closure, massive change of routine, not seeing her friends and familiar people who spend time every week with her. She attends a local GIrls Brigade and Rainbow Guide group and loves company and watching others.
A new therapy trike will provide Katie-Louise with much needed therapy by strengthening her muscles and getting much needed outdoor time in something other than her wheelchair with quality family time as we try to rebuild our routines and family life post Covid.
