Just4Children are fundraising to give Arlo aged 2 from Longfield in Kent the chance to reach his full potential and to be his absolute best.

Arlo made a sudden appearance, along with his identical twin brother Jenson, on 13th December 2017 11 weeks early. Both boys were blue lighted to the neonatal intensive care unit at the William Harvey Hospital.

Christmas 2017 is certainly a time we wish to forget! It was during this time that a routine head ultrasound found a severe bleed in Arlo’s brain. Being asked to step into a private room has to be a parent’s worst nightmare, our worlds ready to come crashing down, learning that our precious new baby would be severely disabled but to what extent no one could tell.

The boys remained in hospital visiting NICU, HDU and SCBU, for 7 weeks.

At 3 months old Arlo was diagnosed with four limb cerebral palsy.

As Arlo’s parents, and advocates, we felt the most important thing was to get to grips with how to support our son in the best possible way, to give him the best start in life. This is what we have done, and wish to continue to do, to see him succeed and achieve.

Along with NHS funded therapy we provide Arlo with privately funded physiotherapy, sensory and motor skills developmental programs, CME therapy and are always researching for new innovative therapies and approaches. As the years pass we realise that early intervention is key and that these programmes are a must for Arlo’s development. These therapies constantly motivate and challenge Arlo in all the right areas. However, they come at a high cost.

Arlo is the happiest child in spite of his struggles, and to see him get so excited by the small things we all take for granted is heart warming and beautiful. We believe in Arlo and see his potential but we need your support for Just4Children so that we can continue to provide these therapy programmes for Arlo.

Thank you
