Kai is a typical 15 year old boy from Leicestershire. He has an Acquired Brain Injury and Just4Children want to help Kai fulfil his dream of receiving Advanced Rehabilitation Therapy.

Kai was diagnosed as having suffered a catastrophic stroke a day before his 12th birthday, a condition which affects 1% of the population at his age.

Now Kai requires support in many different areas, particularly mobility. He suffers from tightness and stiffness in his muscles which means carrying out a rigorous physiotherapy programme daily.

Despite all his ups and downs Kai’s Thai Boxing fighting spirit continues to shine through.

A joker and loved by everyone, he had promise as a footballer being a goal keeper for his local team; as well as been ranked within the Top 5 in the country for Thai Boxing.

Our dream for Kai is to be a able to live a normal a life as possible where he can do simple things himself.

We now need help to access a therapy known as ABR; a gentle treatment which works much deeper than physiotherapy and will change Kai’s life significantly. Not available on the NHS 3 assessments and updates per year are needed for improvement.

In addition Kai needs to have a sensory based focus on his rehabilitation. He would benefit from this by being able to access the outside in a private environment with the opportunity to take in the sounds and smells of his environment. To this end we would like to put in a herb garden and wind chimes. As well, Kai will be able to interact with his younger siblings.

Thank you for your support.
