Oscar has Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy. Just4Children are fundraising for a life changing operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) which will give him the independence he strives for.
Our precious Oscar aged 4 from Paignton was born 10 weeks prematurely and finally came home after 8 weeks in hospital.
At 18 months Oscar was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy. This means Oscar has increased muscle tone in his legs which causes stiffness, difficulty with movements, coordination and balance. He uses specialised equipment and has daily physio to help him be independent.
We have been advised that Oscar is a good candidate for a procedure called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR). Without this life changing surgery Oscar will most likely need a number of invasive surgeries as he grows and he could loose more of his independence.
Since starting Oscar’s campaign in April 2018, NHS England has now made the decision to fund the SDR operation and some post op physiotherapy. And so, our goal has slightly changed. We are now fundraising for Just4Children to fund specialist equipment, therapy and the extra physiotherapy that will give Oscar the best possible outcome from the operation and rehabilitation.
Oscar is a very happy, cheeky, loving little boy with a sense of humour to match. He takes everything in his stride and is very fiercely independent.
Could you please help us and join Oscar’s crew to raise the much needed funds to help change our little boys world.
Thank you so very much.
