Please help us to raise money for Joey to have Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy – a life changing treatment and his best chance of being able to walk.
Joey was born in 2016 in Loughborough. As he approached his first birthday we began to worry that he wasn’t meeting his milestones. Soon after he was diagnosed with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy.
Joey’s diagnosis means that the part of the brain that controls muscle tone and movement is damaged. He is still unable to sit and cannot stand or walk and he is very unsettled at night due to the pain in his legs. As Joey becomes older it is becoming more apparent how his diagnosis is affecting him.
Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy is a spinal surgical procedure which should allow Joey to walk and be pain free.
Joey doesn’t meet current NHS criteria for the operation. We need to fundraise for Just4Children to pay privately for the surgery and the intensive rehabilitation afterwards. The rehabilitation following surgery is crucial.
Joey is a much-loved little boy who deserves a chance to enjoy life, as a two-year old should. Please help us to give him the chance of surgery.
