Isla has Cerebral Palsy due to being born 12 weeks early and Just4Children are fundraising to help her gain access to physical therapy to aid her to walk after her Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy surgery.
Isla lives in Tewkesbury and has struggled for 5 years with the painful and sometimes agonising effects of Cerebral Palsy in her legs. And so, in December 2017 we contacted Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham and asked if she would be eligible for a life changing operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy. The SDR surgeon agreed Isla would benefit and was booked in for her operation in June 2018 at the cost of several thousand pounds.
Due to the huge amount of therapy and aftercare needed for her to achieve her goal of walking we are fundraising for therapy costs and any specialist equipment she may need. Isla’s therapy costs £70.00 an hour and she has 6 hours a week, to teach her to use muscles she couldn’t before.
Isla is a smart, funny, loving, and kind girl and is finally able to learn how to move her body without the stiffness and pain caused by the Cerebral Palsy. Since having the SDR operation Isla has nearly managed sitting up, half way to being potty trained and she is learning new speech skills daily.
