Holly is a bright happy and much loved little girl aged 10 from Inverclyde who needs a safe accessible bathroom to have a fuller more independent life.
Holly is the strongest little lady I know. She shows everyone around her. An enormous amount of courage, strength and sheer determination shines through her contagious smile.
Holly failed to thrive as a baby and spent most of her time in and out hospital. She was diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy affecting all four of her limbs and dystonia with involuntary muscle spasms and, now she suffers with scoliosis.
Holly is unable to walk, talk or eat orally and is fed by a tube in her tummy. She has a lot of complex issues and needs round the clock care. Her condition is life long.
As Holly has scoliosis and is growing so fast we are trying to fundraise for Just4Children to provide a bathroom so we can give her the care she needs. Currently she uses our main bathroom which is too small.
As Holly is getting older it is becoming more difficult for her to sit in a bath chair or shower chair. Her scoliosis is progressing as she grows. Her spine has a 59 % curve starting from her tail bone upwards to middle of her spine which is putting pressure on her left lung.
Therefore, a showering chair is just not safe and so painful and very uncomfortable for her to be strapped in. This is why an accessible bathroom with a big bath and a soft cushion, which will mould to Holly’s shape, will make it much more comfortable for her to bathe and let her little body move freely of her dystonia. Even if it is for a short time everyday this will benefit her so, so much.
