Finley Connelly was born prematurely at 29 weeks. As a result of his premature birth, Finley suffered bleeding in the brain which has left him suffering with Cerebral Palsy.
Cerebral Palsy is a condition that affects 1 in every 400 children born in the UK. The condition can cause a number of muscular problems, including severe muscle tightness from which Finley suffers greatly.
In May 2018, Finley received some fantastic news. After a range of tests, the doctors at Great Ormond Street offered Finley the chance of life-changing surgery called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR). SDR is a procedure which will ease Finley’s muscle tightness and offer him a chance to walk without pain and to thrive rather than end up not being able to walk at all.
Unfortunately, SDR is an extremely expensive procedure which is not funded by the NHS. The procedure costs £50,000 when all pre and post op costs are taken into consideration.
Please give a special little boy a chance to live the life he so desperately wants to live.
