Please support Just4Children so that Beck can have access to all the therapies and equipment he needs to help him have a better quality of life.
Beck is aged 2 from Salford. Beck’s birth was very traumatic and consequently he was born not breathing. He did not take his 1st independent breath for 13 minutes.
Beck spent 2 weeks in NICU and was treated for Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE). He received therapeutic cooling as well as being treated for Sepsis and Seizures.
Beck started to learn to sit up at 1.5 years old and it took 6 months to learn. Beck does not crawl or walk and our aim is to get Beck walking before he turns 5. We have been told due to his brain injury that he will never walk or talk after an appointment at Great Ormond Street.
Beck has many issues such as Cerebral Visual Impairment. He is registered as partially sighted, and has global development delay and sensory processing disorder.
We would like to raise money for:
Hydrotherapy to help strengthen his legs and allow him to progress eventually to getting a walking frame;
Piedo boots which are special needs shoes that Beck uses in his standing frame (eventually);
Special needs bed as Beck needs a safe environment where he cannot come to harm. He needs the bed to allow him to be safe when he sleeps and not bang his head against the sides or get stuck and need to be repositioned. He also needs to stop sharing a bed with parents as he often wakes when we get into bed. The NHS cannot provide this type of bed;
We would like to take Beck to Bobath for an intensive course of Physiotherapy, Speech and Language and Occupational Therapy.
In Beck’s short life so far he has undergone extensive testing and has yet to receive a definite diagnosis of anything for his physical and cognitive difficulties eg Cerebral Palsy. We would like him to get a functional MRI scan to see if we can find out which part of the brain is not functioning correctly. This would mean private healthcare and maybe even travel to another country.
Please help Beck to get the funds needed for a better future.
