Just4Children are fundraising to give Angus the physiotherapy, feeding and swallowing intervention and equipment he requires to have the best possible future.
Our darling son Angus was stillborn in a car in the fast lane of the A120 on the way to Colchester General Hospital. When first born he was not breathing and in spite of our best efforts to provide CPR as we waited for the ambulance Angus was without a pulse for at least 30 minutes.
Angus has Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) grade three – the most severe grading for oxygen starvation. It has left him with dystonic, bilateral cerebral palsy and a range of complications.
Despite these restrictions we see each day the clever and delightful boy Angus is becoming and his potential to lead a fulfilling and independent life – if he receives adequate support and therapy.
In every area Angus requires more support and therapy than the otherwise brilliant NHS can supply.
We have researched and have been given advice the best therapies in the world and created a bespoke treatment regime to achieve the greatest outcomes for our son.
Although recognised to bring results these therapies of course come at a cost.
We are fundraising for Just4Children to provide Angus with weekly physio, Occupational Therapy, feeding and communication therapy in the UK as well as regular intensive blocks of treatment at world-leading centres in the US and Canada.
Having visited the US for several of these intensive therapy sessions we have seen the huge progress Angus can make each time; it has such an impact to his development and future.
Angus is an incredible boy who has amazed us all so far. We want to give him every opportunity to continue to astound us.
