Just4Children want to help Millie walk, run and jump like any other child!
Millie is aged 2 from Guildford in Surrey. We noticed Millie wasn’t reaching all the milestones children her age would have. But due to her being born 11 weeks premature, we put it down to that.
Unfortunately, in November 2016 our world came crashing down around us. At 15 months old Millie was diagnosed with Diplegic Cerebral Palsy. Diplegic Cerebral Palsy, also known as Spastic Diplegia, is a form of Cerebral Palsy marked by tense muscles and spasms. Leg muscles in particular tend to be extremely tight and, over time, this causes joints to stiffen, reducing the range of motion.
Millie has since been seen by physiotherapy once a week, and has had two 6 weekly blocks of hydrotherapy sessions. These have proved to be invaluable to Millie, and she has gone from strength to strength. Millie’s first massive milestone was her learning to roll over, and one of many more to come.
Millie now can sit unaided, and just after her 2nd birthday she learnt to position herself to crawl then managed to get herself moving!
We are hoping Millie will have SDR surgery performed through the NHS, but if this fails we hope to go to St Louis in America. Millie will also need several years of post-op therapy.
Thank you for your support for Millie’s Massive Milestones.
