Charlie is aged 4 from Bridgewater in Somerset and needs to have SDR surgery.
Charlie was born with spastic four limb cerebral palsy and developmental delay. This means Charlie can’t walk or stand alone.
Charlie gets around by crawling, his cerebral palsy affecting both his arms and his legs. He also has very high tone and will spasm which can make it very difficult for Charlie to control his movements. He has had Botox that lasts six months at a time.
Charlie is a very happy smiley little boy but he does get very frustrated. There’s an operation called selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) which involves the nerves in the back that talk to the brain. Those nerves cause Charlie to become stiff more in his legs, but by cutting the nerves this would mean that Charlie would get the chance to walk and improve his life. This procedure is performed at St Louis Children’s Hospital in USA.
Charlie really needs your support, so please donate.
Thank you. You will make a real difference to Charlie’s life.
