Just4Children needs to raise funds for intensive physiotherapy to support Alfie in his quest to walk.
Alfie is our 6 year old boy from Derbyshire who has been diagnosed with Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy following an infection he caught in hospital at just 10 days old.
Alfie cannot walk or crawl and has fine motor problems particularly with his right hand.
In 2016, with the assistance of friends, family, employers and the local community enough funds were raised to pay for an operation for Alfie called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy which loosened the tightness in Alfie’s muscles.
Immediately after the operation we saw a massive difference in Alfie, not only were his muscles less tight but his eyesight improved, he was toilet trained and he no longer needed medication to stop excessive saliva.
However, to continue getting the most out of the operation Alfie needs regular physiotherapy at two treatment centres in Europe which give amazing intensive therapy.
The doctors at these facilities have said that there is a good chance that Alfie will stand and walk with the right treatment.
