Just4Children wants to help Alex make further progress following his SDR surgery and to enable him to lead a better and more independent life.

Alex is a bright cheeky little 6 year old boy from Castleford in West Yorkshire who has cerebral palsy.

When Alex was diagnosed following an MRI scan where they found he had PVL (damage to the brain), we were told it would be unlikely that Alex would ever walk unaided. Nothing can prepare you for such news.

Alex was unable to sit unaided, roll, crawl, walk and do the normal things children generally learn to do as they get older. We undertook ABR therapy for 3 years with Alex which worked well and he was able to learn to sit, kneel and crawl. We then looked into SDR surgery and decided to go for it.

Alex was refused surgery in the UK but was accepted by Dr Park in St Louis. We spent 1 month in St Louis where Alex had both SDR and Percs surgery in July 2017. Surgery went well and with intensive therapy Alex is now making good progress.

We are continuing to fundraise to help pay for therapy, equipment or anything else medically related that Alex needs to assist his progress and to make his life better and more independent.
