Sienna is 8 years old from Luton and needs an operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy to enable her to walk freely. This operation is not funded by the NHS. Our hope is to fundraise so we can go to America to have this surgery with Dr Parks, a world leading surgeon of SDR.
For the last 7 years Sienna has been crawling on the floor and in the last 2 years has been able to move more in her walker. She has suffered bruising from falls as she is so eager to get around everywhere.
Sienna was born at normal term weighing 5lbs 11 ounces. We thought everything was fine and she was healthy. As each of the milestones of crawling and babbling were not reached we knew something wasn’t right. After many medical appointments which are ongoing we were informed that Sienna had cerebral palsy, microcephaly (small head syndrome), severe global delay development and a genetic disorder she currently is being tested for.
After the surgery Sienna will need intense physiotherapy and specialist equipment that would help Sienna get around and lead a better quality of life.
As Sienna is 8 years old it has been increasingly difficult for her crawling around the house and not being able to get around easily. She needs all of downstairs accessible and we need to meet the short fall between any disability grant and actual costing . If you can imagine an 8 year old crawling to get to places, having sore knees. Our target will increase to reflect her needs.
We thank you for continuing to help Sienna.
