Hope for Isaac
In the last 2 years my friends family and local community successfully helped us raise the money to get Isaac to America for life changing surgery. Isaac had his surgery on the 15th September 2015 but we still need to continue raising funds over the next few years to cover the costs of his intensive physio and maybe a return visit to St. Louis for a tendon release procedure.
Isaac and his twin brother Zakir from Reigate in Surrey were born 11 weeks early and although they both seemed healthy I was devastated to find out Isaac had brain damage caused by untreated strep b infection. Isaac’s limbs were so stiff he would cry constantly and was very angry and frustrated but since having selective dorsal rhizotomy with the amazing Dr Park at St. Louis children’s hospital in America, he has come on leaps and bounds.
He can now move his legs freely, his speech amazes me every day and it’s just like his whole body has been released from the tight bands holding him back.
However, as Isaac has never been able to walk, not even in a walker, he has no muscles in his tiny little legs. Isaac is predicted to be able to do some independent walking but to achieve this he needs intensive physiotherapy every day which is currently costing me £2000 a month.
Thank you to everyone that continues to support Isaac.
