We are raising funds for Just4Children to help Emily who has cerebral palsy in order to give her the brightest and easiest future possible.
Emily is from Horsham in West Sussex and was born at 29 weeks gestation weighing just 2lb. An early ultrasound and subsequent MRI confirmed that she had significant brain damage known as PVL. We were told that she may have cerebral palsy but we would not know until further down the line.
In October 2012 it was confirmed that Emily did indeed have cerebral palsy.
Emily is 4 this month and she amazes us every day. She can talk for England, sit up independently for short periods and can 4 point kneel. She uses a manual wheelchair and this gives her independence.
Emily attends a special school twice a week and mainstream nursery for another two giving her the best of both worlds.
We have recently been told that it is unlikely Emily will ever walk independently and we need to focus on adapting our home as our local council refuse to help. Our first job is making our garden and driveway accessible for Emily’s wheelchair. Emily also desperately needs specialist equipment and extra therapies.
