Hello, my name is Aiden aged 6 from Par near St Austell in Cornwall and I have cerebral palsy. If I could possibly raise enough funds for Just4Childen I would be able to have an operation that would potentially allow me to walk and play with my friends.
Our son Aiden was born at 7 weeks premature at 2lb 7oz. As time passed on we started to be concerned about Aiden’s development, until we eventually managed to submit our concerns to a paediatric consultant.
It was at this meeting and inspection of Aiden that the paediatrician gave us the news that no parent wants to hear. Aiden was diagnosed with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy.
Aiden is a joyful little chap and brings light and happiness to all those around him. Aiden rarely complains about his life and the activities he misses out on due to being disabled, or the ongoing physiotherapy and the endless hospital appointments, although you can see in his eyes his disappointment and tiredness at times.
There is an operation known as selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) that could potentially change Aiden’s life and allow Aiden to walk and play with his friends.
Aiden has now undergone his SDR surgery and is trying his hardest at his physiotherapy sessions and exercise program.
Until we manage to reach our target for Aiden, we will be unable to continue with his full rehabilitation for the recommended 3 year period post SDR.
We would like to thank you all so very much for your continued support because without assistance from generous people like you Aiden may never get the chance to lead the normal life that we all take for granted.
